Assess and reorganize the dean's office.
DeanWorks is an independent service that assesses a business school's dean's office and recommends how to reorganize it for effectiveness, efficiency, and alignment with the school's strategic priorities. Each engagement runs as a project, with a defined scope, named owners, and a finish.
What an engagement covers.
DeanWorks examines how the dean's office is organized and recommends a clearer, more streamlined structure, aligned with the school's priorities. Working with the dean, associate deans, department chairs, and administrative personnel, each engagement looks at:
- Organizational structure and reporting relationships
- Responsibilities and how roles fit together
- Workflows and coordination across the office
- Resource allocation
- Appropriate uses of AI and automation
Three ways to work together.
DeanWorks Diagnostic
A short, focused read on where the dean's office stands.
- Survey the dean's office staff
- Interview with the dean
- Two working sessions
- Findings brief with the top three to five issues
DeanWorks Assessment
The full assessment of the dean's office, with a written report and recommendations.
- Interviews with the dean, associate deans, and staff (up to 15)
- Document review and one two-day site visit
- Responsibility and workflow maps
- AI and automation review
- Organizational assessment, written report, and recommendations
- Presentation to the dean
DeanWorks Assessment and Implementation
The assessment, plus hands-on support putting the recommendations in place.
- Everything in the Assessment
- An implementation plan for the dean's approval
- Coordination of approved changes
- Evaluation of results
- Handoff to the appropriate administrative leaders
Every tier is all-inclusive: the fee covers travel, the site visit, lodging, and all expenses. The Diagnostic fee counts toward the DeanWorks Assessment and DeanWorks Assessment and Implementation if the client upgrades within 90 days.
How each engagement runs.
All three run as projects under a statement of work, each with its own scope and finish. They build on one another, from a quick read to a full study to hands-on change.

The thinking behind the method.
First principles
Start from what any dean's office must do: set direction, run operations, serve students, faculty, and employers, and represent the school. Build the assessment around those functions, not the current org chart.
Systems thinking
Treat structure, reporting lines, workflows, and resources as one system, and design changes that hold together.
Project management
Every engagement runs under a statement of work with fixed phases and clear deliverables.
